God defined what is good at the very beginning. We can understand what our good days look like when we learn more about His design for our life.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. Genesis 1:27–28, 31 (ESV)

Good Days Look Like The Original Design
Many of us find ourselves connected with the world that surrounds us. For some, it is mountains bordered by endless skies, for others it is sand filled shorelines and seas that go on forever. There are grassy plains of untouched fields, deserts that capture the sun and tropical jungles that pour out flowers of every color. Nature has a way of capturing our attention, we look out with amazement at any age. There is a sense of awe and power, uncontained beauty, a combination of simplicity and complexity, and order of things that is beyond comprehension, yet we connect, we understand and we belong.
When we see the world around us untouched by the hands of humankind, when we see it in its original state, it is as if it cries out a language we can understand and the praises of our God whom we have not seen. These praises are proclaimed loudly lifting up His name!
The mountains praise Him!
The seas and the heavens praise Him!
The valleys and fields sing Glory to His name!
In Genesis, chapter 1 God created the earth, the sea, the skies and everything that in them is. And after He made humankind, He didn't say "good enough." He said very good (Genesis 1:31). What do your good days look like? They look like the original design and order that God spoke forth at the very start.
In 2026, with the noise of the world pulling us in every direction, it's easy to miss the handiwork of God all around us. Scientists went to the moon and came back but only saw a speck of dust compared to what God created in six days. The first key to seeing your good days is learning to look at the world the way God does. We should never lose our wonder, gratitude, and ability to see His order working in everything. Amen.
Good Days Look Like What We See In The Manual
God did not speak forth creation randomly, but He spoke it with design and order that moves in perfect synchronization. God separated the light from the darkness (Genesis 1:4). He set the heavens above and the seas below. He established a system that works together because it is aligned with His design. And in the same way, our good days show up when our lives are aligned with His design.
That design is written down. It's called the Holy Bible, the original operations manual for human life. Not the NY Times bestselling self-help book. Not what the financial advisors are saying. Not the "best life" influencer on social media. All of those resources can be helpful, but they are additions to, not replacements for, what God has spoken over your life (Proverbs 3:1–4). When we stop consulting the manual, we can get lost in life. When we go back to it, we find order that shows us what our good days look like. Good days happen in alignment with God's word.
Good Days Look Like a Field Full of Colors
In the early 20th century, the research of Dr. George Washington Carver uncovered that the over-farming of cotton was destroying the soil. His solution was crop rotation. The greed of worldly, man-made economic systems was in contrast with the plan of God. Over-farming cotton fields to deliver profits for plantation owners was damaging the plan for multiplying harvests that God had designed with the diversity of vegetation He placed in the earth. —
"And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good." (Genesis 1:11-12).
Your good days look like that field. Not just cotton. Not one gift, one song, one expression of your faith. Your good days look like a field full of colors; fruitful in many areas, sowing seeds of grace everywhere you go. The body of Christ needs all of us: every gift, every talent, every voice speaking into every neighborhood and field in the appointed time and season. Can anything good come out of North Philly? Can anything good come out of Camden or Chester? Nathanael asked something similar — "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" (John 1:46). And the answer was Jesus. The answer to your neighborhood, your family, and your season is the same. You are loved by God, your creator. You were made in His image. You were blessed from the beginning. When we look back to the original design, we can uncover what our good days will look like ahead. Amen.
Reflection
"God proclaimed His creation was and still is very good. Look in the mirror, are you seeing what He sees and checking His operations manual daily?"
Prayer
"My Father and my creator, lead me in the way I should go. Show me what my good days look like and point me to the original design you spoke for my life. Allow me to share the gifts you have blessed me with everywhere that I go. I love you and praise you, in Jesus' name, amen."
